House in a Hill, 1994
RICHARD ROGERS
The italian born architec Richard Rogers has desingned some of the most daring large scale structures, form the "Millenium Dome", to the diaphanus plant of the "Lloyd´s building".
The relatively unknow "House on the Hill" is perhaps amongst his finest works.
From the outside, this metallic structure constrast with the surroundings, making the building even more dramatic.
This design has a cantilevered roof, supported by cables hanging from two columns, which generate 261 square meters of interior space without a single structural element.
This dearing structure is approached from the above, and while you climb the hill with the car, the building starts to appear in all its glory, challeging gravity.
